YEAR 2 and YEAR 6 SATs - May 2016.

Updated February 2016

The Government has changed the Year 6 and Year 2 SATs, as well as Assessment.

The Government has recently published the guidance for the tests.

Since September 2014, teachers have been working extremely hard to ensure all children are taught under the 'New Curriculum' framework, and with the raised expectations. We continue to evolve and reflect in our work to ensure we are offering the best possible provision for all pupils.

Since September 2015,  Assessment has also changed, no longer are children assessed with 'Numerical Levels'. We continue to work hard to ensure children know their next steps in their learning - written evidence in books show how we have ensured all children are continuing to make progress.  Currently, schools are in an interim period where children are assessed as follows:
'emerging'         - well below age expected
'developing'      - below age expected
'secure'              - at age expected
'with greater depth'  - above age expected

Until the assessment situation is resolved by the Government, we will continue to work hard on offering children their next steps, marking books carefully and offering effective feedback so children can maintain progress.

The SATs have also changed and are clearly explained below.
It gives information about the format - but please note the content will not be the specific papers, but examples of what the papers could contain.

Please watch these short videos which gives you a clear understanding of what your children in Year 2 or 6 will be taking in May.
